Mexico City, the capital and largest city of Mexico, is a popular destination known for its beautiful streets lined with historic architecture and as a gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Teotihuacan. Direct flights from Narita Airport provide convenient access, and approximately 96,000 Japanese visitors traveled to Mexico last year (Source: Ministry of Tourism of Mexico). Meanwhile, the number of Mexican visitors to Japan reached 151,800, a 60% increase year-on-year (Source: Japan National Tourism Organization), indicating a current imbalance in bilateral tourism flows.

Under this agreement, H.I.S. Mexico will lead tourism promotion activities targeting not only Japanese residents in Japan but also Japanese communities living overseas.

Project Objective:
To promote the appeal of Mexico City and increase inbound travel demand

Contract Period:
From October 1, 2025

Key Initiatives:

  • Implement joint promotional campaigns to widely communicate the attractions of Mexico City to Japanese travelers, aiming to stimulate travel demand and increase awareness

  • Deliver seasonal and event-based campaigns through Japanese-language social media, advertising, travel information websites, and in-store promotions to effectively showcase Mexico City as a travel destination, while boosting product awareness and sales

  • Support the planning and development of new Mexico City travel products, including staff training through site inspections and familiarization trips, and collaboration with local experiential programs to create compelling travel offerings

  • Contribute to tourism demand generation and regional revitalization through regular performance reviews, sharing of improvement measures, coordination with local partners, contract support, and cooperation in events and seminars

Since 2020, H.I.S. Mexico has been promoting coexistence with local communities through initiatives such as the “Maya Embroidery Project,” which aims to preserve traditional Mayan embroidery and support the economic independence of women. Through this newly appointed role, H.I.S. Mexico seeks to further enhance awareness of Mexico City among Japanese travelers—who have a strong interest in culture, cuisine, and history—while increasing visitor numbers and contributing to the local economy and cultural preservation.
